Traditional Interior Design – Tips on How to Put Together That Perfect Room

Traditional interior design covers a lot of area in any home. This encompasses more than decor and paint. Interior design covers floors and ceilings, furniture, and window coverings. Each component has to tie in with the next in order to be successful with your final look. These components include colors, textures, and where items and furniture are placed.

There are certain steps in traditional interior design and each one is very important. These steps have to be completed in order to avoid any mishaps that could occur. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out, common sense is the key for most of the steps. Traditional interior design styles should be subtle but never predictable. Here is how to create the perfect interior design style:

· Walls come first. Select your wall treatments and your paint colors. Prepare your walls and paint them. Once they have been allowed to dry completely you can move on. This is when you would want to hang wallpaper or borders in your selected room.

· Floors are next. Do you like carpet and is it even realistic for this room? Do you need something that can be washed easily? If so, maybe you need to consider a uncarpeted surface floor with an area rug. Once you have decided it is time to install your flooring choice.

· Lighting! Lighting sets the mood in a room. There are many lighting options available on the market such as recessed, track lighting, chandeliers, and pendant lights. Recessed and track lighting are great for all around lighting but are also perfect for task lighting too. The pendant lights and chandeliers offer the most amount of light. For a touch of style use floor lamps or table lamps.

· Next on the list is windows. There are so many options to choose from when it comes to treating your windows. Traditionally, simple panels are likely the most popular choice. Although it has been redesigned, the Roman shade is a hot ticket for a piece of tradition and a newer modern flare. Another winner is vertical blinds and sheer panels over them.

· Time to add decor to the walls. When hanging your wall accessories place two frames next to each other rather than alone for a balanced symmetrical look. Add mirrors since they are classy but still casual. Don’t be afraid to group your art work on larger walls. Remember to always hang at eye level!

· Time for the furniture! Staying with the traditional interior design always make sure that you leave enough room for people to walk comfortably. Don’t over clutter the room with too much furniture. Create areas that make it easy for people to enjoy conversation. Then add your accessories…but remember not too many!

Traditional interior design, when done right can bring a room to life. Take the time to do it right and you will be happy that you did!
