The living room is often the space where you spend most od your time, whether it be snuggling up and watching a film on a Sunday or eating your cereal before work.

So the design of the room is really important, and with this in mind, why not make a change?

Keeping walls plain yet colourful allows you to go to town on the fabrics, so if you choose similar toned blues, you can go ahead with spots, stripes and different textures to really add impact to the room. Make sure you stick to similar tones however or the room will feel too busy.

If you are a little scared of colour, keep the room mostly white and choose one or two bright coloured feature pieces to inject some feeling into the room. If you want to opt for feature wallpaper but don’t want to do the whole room, then take a panel, and colour match features in the rest of the room to it. for example, take a large, floral print panel and pick out colours to add cushions and rugs to the room.

If your furnishings are black, opt for a bold colour as a backdrop to really show the monochrome. Choose textured furnishings to really take the eye into the room.

If you like the idea of having a little colour punctuating a room but prefer clean and crisp white areas, then choose patterned or really colourful blinds to add impact to any room.
